Cannabis Clubs vs Wine Tasting Societies

Cannabis Clubs

There are now around 50 cannabis clubs around the UK. These clubs are social societies where cannabis lovers come together to swap some of their favorite products, try new strains of marijuana and generally to socialize with people of similar persuasions.

These clubs are not made up of thugs or criminals, but of cannabis connoisseurs who research the pot that they enjoy and discuss intellectual subjects in the field of cannabis such as medical uses for cannabis and the decriminalization of such a malevolent ‘drug’.

One of the topics that are strived for by cannabis clubs is the healthy use of cannabis including topics such as not abusing cannabis and making sure that you know what you are smoking. It is claimed by members of cannabis clubs that it would be much more beneficial if members of these clubs were able to grow their own weed rather than buy it off the streets as they would know exactly what they are smoking, however laws regarding growing cannabis mean that cannabis enthusiasts could be convicted of drug peddling rather than just seen as someone who likes to enjoy their own plants.

Although it is illegal to buy, possess or grow cannabis in the UK it is not illegal to sell cannabis seeds. Cannabis seeds can be bought online on websites such as The Vault Cannabis Seeds Store.

Cannabis can be used effectively for the treatment of many health conditions, and the use of cannabis for medical reasons is already legal in the US. The main priority for many of the cannabis clubs is to focus on campaigning for the legalizing cannabis for medical use.

Cannabis clubs in the UK are represented by the UK Cannabis Social Club who boast over 40,000 Facebook likes.

Wine Tasting Societies

There are hundreds of wine tasting societies all over the UK. Wine tasting societies bring together wine enthusiasts who love to taste wines, socialize and enjoy a drink with people of a similar persuasion.

These societies are categorized as classy societies with a lot of intelligent and affluent people pertaining to the pleasure. Unlike cannabis clubs, wine tasting societies are very legal and members of these societies do not have to worry about the law taking action against them for their social pastime.

Although there is an obvious difference in the classification and legality of these two types of societies there is a constant debate about which ‘drug’, cannabis or alcohol, is the worst for the user. Although cannabis is not legal its damaging effects on its users are much agreed in the medical world to be much less than the effects of alcohol on its users. Around a million people, a year attend A&E departments of hospitals around the UK because of alcohol-related factors: this influx of people reportedly costs the NHS around £1.7 billion a year. Compare this to the number of people attending hospital for cannabis-related factors and the figure for cannabis-related factors is almost negligible.

As well as the increased health risks of using alcohol rather than cannabis there are also social implications. Alcohol is known to cause strain on relationships, be they between a couple or parents and their children. It is also the main cause of violent crime in the UK.

We don’t see wine tasting societies as a problem at all, but surely the overall question should be: why should cannabis clubs be outlawed and wine tasting be legal and acceptable?
